WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2022 also ranked Brazil in the 54th position among the 132 economies featured in its report -- eight positions higher than in 2020.

In this post-pandemic era, it has become more evident than ever that innovation is key for human well-being, sustainable development and economic growth. In this sense, the World Intellectual Property Indicators report has identified a continuous increase in the number of worldwide filings of patents, trademarks, industrial designs and plant varieties.

According to the most recent report released in November of last year, the Brazilian IP Office granted 31.7% more patents and filed 32.3 % more trademarks in 2021 than in 2020. On the creative industries sector, the country increased the number of titles published by 10%. WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2022 also ranked Brazil in the 54th position among the 132 economies featured in its report -- eight positions higher than in 2020.
